If we aren't satisfied with how our lives look or feel, we tend to resist what is. Consequently, we become frustrated that it is not better, even resigned or cynical. When we have that perspective, it signifies emotional resistance, and we can feel stuck. I know I have been there. Those feelings yield more of the same. I know you know this stuff.
This resistance is precisely what keeps us stuck in the rat race. (Oh, I remember those days) And there is no room for growth. (To even consider a new and different kind of investment.) When we can acknowledge, even appreciate, the raw truth of where we are, it disrupts the overdrive and puts us on track for new creation. This moment brings much fear and uncertainty, and we may say, "Screw this, I am out of here. I may not like my world, but at least it’s familiar."
It is right here that we can STOP and consciously decide: Do we want to remain where we are, along with the frustrations, complaints, and familiarity? The dangerous part of this is that it can become a habit, so we never try anything new, and that leads to a dead end, the path of "this is just how it is."
OR we can recognize these as limiting beliefs and be clear about them and what they yield. When we do, we can feel this SHIFT in our bodies that reconnects us with our emotional energy. And we can give ourselves permission to shift, to empower ourselves to take an educated risk on a new investment idea that just might fulfill our needs and create the CHANGE we are looking for.
I went through this process after the 2008 crash, and my retirement savings were devastated. I couldn't see myself ever retiring if I didn't do something different. At first, I was immobilized, felt like I had lost everything. And then I decided to take what I had left and move overseas to recreate what I had and more in a dream location I had always wanted to live. That was 23 years ago, and I never looked back.
